A Wider Frame

After breaking an inexpensive camera lens, it was then taken apart to salvage the lens elements within. Those elements were then converted into a makeshift wide angle lens converter that I used with my phone’s camera, expanding the cameras focal length.

CDMX

Following a dramatic end to a relationship, I acted upon an invitation to travel to Mexico City, Mexico for the Mutek Festival with friends Genie and Lupe. While there, I selected to focus on documenting my surroundings in panorama using my cellphone in an effort to combat the depressive thoughts intrusion on my mental state during the trip.

Arrowhead Mountains

2004

A trip to the mountains to visit friends Sean and Sam, who had recently relocated to the Arrowhead Mountains from San Diego County. Laura, Michael, Sam, Sean and myself spent about a week sitting around the house making meals and watching nature from the porch deck.

Palomar Mountain

2004

A trip to the mountains that set in the scenery behind my residence in San Diego County. It was the first full roll of film shot on the Nikomat that I borrowed from my roommate. Together, he and I drove up the mountain and explored the area.

New Mexico

2016

A trip to New Mexico with friends Lupe, Josh and Genie’s hat, which stood in her place as she was unable to make the trip. It was the first paid vacation I was able to take while working at Contemporary Arts Museum Houston. While making the trek to Montezuma, New Mexico where we stayed in another friend, Michael Peranteau’s home, we made stops and spent time in El Paso, Marfa, White Sands, Taos and Santa Fe.

This experience was also the focus of a document I created titled This Video Is/Was For Genie , a 27-minute film created for Genie.
