On The Topic Of Race

    This site specific sculpture explores the physical and mental use of negative space, examining the roles we are placed within in regard to race. It addresses issues of access and agency, examining how we allocate space for and navigate these conversations mentally and physically.

    The piece highlights the origins of humankind and the current state of our existence. The use of flesh tones ranging from dark to light give rise to conversations about race, the interdependent nature of human beings and speaks to issues colorism within communities of color.

    The sculpture, encompassing the driveway and backyard of SpaceHL, makes physical our subconscious conversations and asks that we navigate them with the understanding that we all deserve to have space, access and agency in this world.
