Wave (Goodbye)
Galveston Arts Center2021
A site-specific sculptural installation representative of a large tidal wave and its wake, sweeping through GAC’s main gallery space and engulfing visitors.
This work adds physical context to the magnitude of repercussions regarding inaction and indifference in matters of human rights (chattel slavery) and equality (Jim Crow and other forms of systemic oppression), ecology (climate change), and industry (perils of blind consumerism).
The wake of Wave (black sandbags representative of Black bodies) asks visitors to acknowledge a shared responsibility to the preservation and maintenance of a living planet and its inhabitants.
